Private Investigator mistakenly Shot

In July 2009 a US Private Investigator was shot, apparently mistaken for a Turkey in the scrub. At the time, the Investigator was investigating a Workers Compensation claim on behalf of an insurance company. The Investigator had camouflage on and was in bush/ scrub undertaking surveillance when he was shot by a shotgun. The shotgun blast struck him on the side of his body, back and leg.

The shooter (person under investigation for workers compensation claim) pleaded guilty to 3rd Degree assault, 4th degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful manner of taking. He was sentenced to 4 years probation and 100 hours of community service.
